In late May after the Prickly Pear cacti have faded the Walking Stick Cholla Cacti bloom; bright pink flowers clustered on the ends of thorny branches. I only have to walk a hundred yards down the road to an outcrop of these thorny plants where I can admire their brilliant flowers.
